The RJC is delighted to announce that three more services have been awarded the Restorative Service Quality Mark (RSQM). Wakefield Youth Offending Team Restorative Justice Service, The Mediation Service and Suffolk Youth Offending Service Restorative Justice Team have successfully completed their assessment and now hold the RSQM.

Jon Collins, the RJC’s chief executive, said: “I am really pleased that these three organisations have achieved the RSQM. It is testament to their commitment to restorative principles, and their dedication to providing a consistently excellent quality of service.”

The RSQM is a badge of quality that demonstrates that a service provides safe, high quality restorative practice which meets the six Restorative Service Standards. These organisations join other RSQM awardees – in sectors ranging from criminal justice through education to care – who are guaranteed to deliver high quality restorative processes.

Debra Parr, restorative justice project worker at Wakefield Youth Offending Team, said: “Over the past three years we have invested in embedding restorative approaches into every aspect of our work, with staff, volunteers and partner agencies.

We felt that we had done as much work as possible in translating policy legislation and strategy into practice and wanted the RJC to look at our work to verify this.”

Wendy Freshman, the chief executive officer at The Mediation Service, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have achieved our RSQM - it really means a lot to our organisation.  Although we are quite a small charity, we value the work we do and the contribution we make to both community and statutory partners.

“We are now assured of the quality of our work, and so are our partners.  We are especially proud that the RSQM represents the robustness of our systems, delivery and customer care, and demonstrates to our commissioners and customers that we deliver safe and excellent practice.”

Catherine Bennett, operational manager at Suffolk Youth Offending Service, said: “The process of achieving the RQSM provided us a unique opportunity to reflect on and develop our practice.

“Suffolk Youth Offending Service is delighted to have gained this quality mark. All the hard work has paid off.”
