The RJC is launching a new Restorative Service Quality Mark (RSQM) grant scheme, funded by the Ministry of Justice. The RSQM is our quality mark for services providing restorative processes. It demonstrates to commissioners and the public that organisations are committed to safe, quality restorative practice. More information about the RSQM can be found at www.rsqm.org.uk.

The grant scheme will be managed by the RJC and will enable a limited number of organisations delivering restorative justice, who might not otherwise be able to afford the RSQM, to receive a grant to cover the cost of the RSQM application.

In order to apply your organisation must:

1. Be a charity or not for profit organisation. [1]

2. Deliver restorative justice services in the criminal justice system.

3. Confirm that your restorative justice services include:

  • Participation of the offender and one or more of the victims.
  • Activity that gives the victim or victims an opportunity to talk about, or by other means express experience of, the offending and its impact and to have a say in the resolution of offences.
  • Activity that aims to maximise the offender’s awareness of the impact of their offending on the victims.

4. Have conducted at least five direct restorative interventions in the last 12 months.

5. Have demonstrated that your organisation is progressing well in its restorative work by completing the RSQM healthcheck (available at www.rsqm.org.uk).

6. Commit to hosting the first initial visit by 31 December 2015.

7. Be able to demonstrate commitment to equal opportunities principles.

If you think your organisation meets the above criteria please fill out the expression of interest form below and send it back to us by 27 July 2015 at 5pm.

Please return completed forms to: standards@restorativejustice.org.uk.

If you have a query about the scheme, or just want to find out more about the RSQM, please contact the Restorative Justice Council standards team at standards@restorativejustice.org.uk on 0207 831 5700.

[1] The RJC will consider applications from organisations which do not meet this criterion, where such organisations can show that they are unable to undertake RSQM for financial reasons. However, priority will be given to not for profit and charitable organisations.
