You can become an Accredited Practitioner if you have at least one year’s experience of delivering restorative processes. You will need to read and sign up to the RJC Practitioner Code of Practice.

There are many benefits linked to Accredited Practitioner Status. These include a full listing on the RJC Register (which can include your contact details, experience and expertise), the use of the RJC Practitioner Quality Mark, free advice and support from the RJC, our quarterly newsletter Resolution, monthly e-bulletins, discounts on entry to RJC events and CPD workshops, plus discounts from a range of publishers, discounted gym membership and discounted Fellowship of the RSA.

It only costs £75 per year to become an Accredited Practitioner and if you work/volunteer for an organisation which is affiliated to the RJC you may be entitled to a 10% discount.

There are two ways in which you can become an Accredited Practitioner:

Qualification route: This route is suitable if you have completed an accreditation (qualification) which has received the RJC’s Accreditation Quality Mark (AQM). The accreditations that have received the AQM are:

  1. Level 4 Diploma in Restorative Practice
  2. University of Ulster Certificate in Restorative Practices

Direct Accreditation by the RJC (formerly known as the Passport route): If you are an experienced restorative practitioner and have not achieved an AQM accreditation, then direct accreditation will be suitable for you. This entry route will be open until 31 August 2013. You will be asked to provide details of your restorative experience and a portfolio of evidence mapping your skills and knowledge to the four core restorative practice national occupational standards (NOS). The NOS cover assessment, preparation, facilitation and evaluation.

Please be aware that it may take over 30 hours to develop your portfolio of evidence so that it sufficiently evidences your skills and knowledge against the restorative practice NOS. Reading the guidance on how to complete your application is essential to successful approval as an Accredited Practitioner. You can download the guidance here.
