I facilitate multi-party conferences within the Criminal Justice system, families and the community - including schools. I also specialise in facilitating cases involving the more serious and high level crimes such as serious sexual offences, murder, arson, racially aggravated and hate crimes.
I currently deliver training for basic victim/offender mediation skills and an advanced programme for multi party conferencing. I am able to offer training in a variety of restorative practices.
I actively work to help reduce the number of young people entering into the Criminal Justice System. With this in mind I helped to set up a successful parent/teenager mediation service that works with families where relationships have broken down to help those affected communicate their needs.
I assisted West Kent Mediation and Kent Police establish a process to deliver Final Warning Clinics restoratively. I also assist Police Officers and PCSO’s deliver multi party conferences that require specialist facilitation.
I have also successfully facilitated workplace mediation cases.
I am currently undertaking accredited training for Family Mediation (divorce/separation) and will be qualified by end of August 2011.

I am a Victim Liaison officer at Leeds Youth Offending Service Read Full Profile
and have been in post since April 2007. I began working in a support/restorative capacity in 2003 as a volunteer for Victim Support, then as a Victim Liaison Officer for the Youth Offending Team in Kirklees. My current role allows me to give choices to victims after a youth has been convicted of an offence, these choices can be as simple as providing information about the sentence, what work will be done with a young offender, to engaging a victim in a mediation meeting with the person who offended against them.
I am also involved with the training undertaken by volunteers who work with Leeds Youth Offending Service, training restorative practice and conflict resolution within residential children’s homes in Leeds and more recently have worked with some local community groups giving information about victims of burglaries.
I live in Elland, West Yorkshire and have a daughter, twin sons, (all grown up) a husband, two Cocker Spaniels and an African Gray Parrot therefore my life has been full of resolving conflict using restorative practices! I am a very positive person who believes that every day brings new learning and new opportunities. I love my work and feel that I create some positives out of negative situations.

Programmes can be tailored to the specific focus group, and can include developing interventions to meet challenging young people involving restorative and solution focus approaches, emotional intelligence and managing conflict. Since completing my Degree at Canterbury Christ Church University Read Full Profile
in Canterbury, Kent, I have worked with children and young people in a variety of settings to help them achieve their potential. In the summer of 2002 I travelled to Massachusetts in America to work with young people on a summer camp which gave me the opportunity to learn new skills and work with people from all over the world, this was an experience I will never forget.
From this experience I went on to work in a Primary School for 18 months as the role of a Sports Coach to deliver Physical Education to all pupils. I then succeeded to work for the Youth Offending Service as a Project Officer with Kent safe schools for 6 years and now currently a YISP Co-ordinator, all of which have taught me a lot about supporting children and young people.
I have also undertaken a ‘Professional Certificate in Effective Practice in Youth Justice’ and ‘Level 3 Diploma in First Line Management’ which has been completed in connection with my employment to enhance my personal development.
I have found the work I do very rewarding for myself but also to see others succeed and move forward into new opportunities with an increase in self esteem and confidence. I look forward to what the future brings with new challenges and opportunities.

I am an experienced practitioner and trainer in restorative approaches Read Full Profile
and have specialised in carrying out restorative processes, both informally and formally in schools, pupil referral units and other educational settings.
My interest in this field came about from witnessing first hand the positive effects that restorative approaches had on behaviour management in schools. It offers a ‘win-win’ situation for all participants and can contribute to schools becoming calmer and safer environments.
Project Salus, the organisation that I work for, is concerned with the emotional health and well-being of children and young people. Using restorative approaches actively promotes positive emotional health, through allowing the exploration of harm in a safe environment.
I am very passionate about the use of this dynamic approach and have practiced in a professional capacity with clients and colleagues alike. It has had an impact on the way I view and manage personal relationships and has also informed my parenting style.
