I also specialise in facilitating cases involving the more serious and high level crimes such as serious sexual offences, murder, arson, racially aggravated and hate crimes.

I am a Victim Liaison officer at Leeds Youth Offending Service Read Full Profile and have been in post since April 2007. I began working in a support/restorative capacity in 2003 as a volunteer for Victim Support, then as a Victim Liaison Officer for the Youth Offending Team in Kirklees. My current role allows me to give choices to victims after a youth has been convicted of an offence, these choices can be as simple as providing information about the sentence, what work will be done with a young offender, to engaging a victim in a mediation meeting with the person who offended against them.

I am also involved with the training undertaken by volunteers who work with Leeds Youth Offending Service, training restorative practice and conflict resolution within residential children’s homes in Leeds and more recently have worked with some local community groups giving information about victims of burglaries.

I live in Elland, West Yorkshire and have a daughter, twin sons, (all grown up) a husband, two Cocker Spaniels and an African Gray Parrot therefore my life has been full of resolving conflict using restorative practices! Belinda Hopkins has been pioneering restorative approaches in Read Full Profile youth settings across the UK and beyond for over 17 years. In the early 1990s, after a career in secondary education, she founded Transforming Conflict, the National Centre for Restorative Approaches in Youth Settings. It has become one of the UK's leading providers of training and consultancy on restorative approaches in youth settings. She regularly runs training courses, writes books and articles, develops all the training materials and resources amd speaks at many conferences nationally and internationally. She is gradually offering more to teachers at university level and has links with several UK universities.

I lead workshops for pastoral teams and senior staff groups from several Local Authorities, facilitate regularly in schools and for the LA and train teams to deliver restorative practices. I offer a wide range of restorative practice programmes from four days for a group of 8-12 people, which enables full conference facilitation, to introductory and awareness raising sessions of half to full day for considerably larger groups including whole staff. Since completing my Degree at Canterbury Christ Church University Read Full Profile in Canterbury, Kent, I have worked with children and young people in a variety of settings to help them achieve their potential. In the summer of 2002 I travelled to Massachusetts in America to work with young people on a summer camp which gave me the opportunity to learn new skills and work with people from all over the world, this was an experience I will never forget.

From this experience I went on to work in a Primary School for 18 months as the role of a Sports Coach to deliver Physical Education to all pupils. I then succeeded to work for the Youth Offending Service as a Project Officer with Kent safe schools for 6 years and now currently a YISP Co-ordinator, all of which have taught me a lot about supporting children and young people.

I work in a secondary school as the Restorative Lead, supporting Read Full Profile young people to resolve conflicts that they may be experiencing. The school has been developing RA since 2008. My main area of work is with young people who are working with the Youth offending team and victims of crime. I joined Kent Police from the Army in 1987. Most of my career Read Full Profile has been spent in community or neighbourhood roles including a ten year period working with the retail community in Maidstone town centre. During this time I became involved in a regional trial of Thames Valley Police's Retail Crime Initative which took a restorative approach to retail crime. Recognising the huge potential of restorative justice for policing I drove local initiatives to expand these opportunities into the youth offending arena before moving to Kent Police Headquarters where I was responsible for a multi agency approach to neighbourhood delivery of restorative practice.
