Victim Support's Javed Khan backs restorative justice and RJC Practitioner Register

Javed Khan, CEO of Victim Support, added his backing to the RJC Practitioner Register and reiterated Victim Support's commitment to restorative justice.

In an article in Resolution, the RJC's quarterly magazine, published today he says "We belive that restorative justice should be offered to all victims of crime, at a time that is right for them."

Stressing the importance of good practice he says "Restorative justice only works for victims when it is carried out by trained practitioners, according to national guidelines and standards... RJC Best Practice Guidance for Restorative Practice should be adhered to by all practitioners to safeguard victims and should be the national standard for all restorative practice."

On the RJC Practitioner Register he says "We welcome the setting up of the RJC National Register of Restorative Practitioners as a key step towards ensuring the continuing professional development of practitioners and encoraging national standards and regulation in RJ practices. The pursuit of RJ needs meaningful investment to make sure victims are protected and very much welcome the development of the Register."
