"That's the power of restorative justice" - Nick Herbert, Minister of State for Policing addresses ACPO/RJC Joint Conference
Nick Herbert, Minister of State for Policing, delivered the key note speech at the ACPO/RJC Conference on Restorative Justice, Policing and The Big Society underlining his support for restorative justice and setting out the challenges restorative justice must if is to continue to prosper.
The Minister's full speech is available for download through further reading.
Presentations, videos, pictures and materials from the day will be made available shortly.
Lizzie Nelson, RJC Director, spoke of how restorative policing has taken off, and how restorative justice embodies the Big Society vision.
She said "The evidence is there that RJ delivers 85% satisfaction rates for victims. It reduces re-offending, and leads to a more efficient use of resources at all stages in the criminal justice system. ACPO and the Restorative Justice Council, on behalf of all our members, will be with the Government all the way in finding, and taking, those radical steps that are needed to deliver the vision for a criminal justice system with restoration to the victims of crime truly at it’s heart."
Please see further reading for Lizzie's speech and other resources as they become available.
