At this high profile event politicians from all three main parties affirmed their support for restorative justice.

In his keynote speech, Alan Duncan Shadow Prisons Minister said that "if I were Prisons Minister, I would urgently investigate what legislation or Ministerial edict might be necessary to see RJ implemented on a nationwide basis." Read the full text here.

RJC welcomed Wendy Freshman and Ben Lyon to our board following the results of the AGM election.

Elias Moubarak and Tanya Pepin of John Pepin Associates were our keynote speakers, reporting the results of our major Wates Foundation funded Accreditation Project, to which so many of you have contributed your time and ideas over the last 15 months.  As with a traditional RJC Forum, there was plenty of time afterwards for discussion and for members to share news from their own work and organisations.

The RJC is proud to have hosted the Annual Restorative Practitioners’ Day, with support from the former Mediation UK’s Mediation and Reparation Committee and Mediation Support Ltd.

RJC AGM 2008 - 9th July 2008

In July 2008, the RJC welcomed Professor Joanna Shapland, Keynote speaker at our AGM and Summer Forum. Professor Shapland spoke about her research into the effects of Restorative Justice undertaken for the Ministry of Justice. Professor Shapland's presentation can be viewed here.

Restorative Justice and Young People Who Display Sexually Harmful Behaviour - A Focus on Practice Issues: Report on 2nd National Conference

This conference followed the highly successful inaugural event held last year. Many attendees had 'come back for more', but there were many new participants keen to find out more about this sensitive area of work.

Marian Liebmann prepared a full review of the conference for those who were unable to attend. It was published in part in the summer 2006 edition of Resolution and can be found in full below.

Mediation UK and the Centre for Non-violent Communication hosted Marshall Rosenberg, an international peacemaker, mediator and the creator of nonviolent communication. 380 guests attended the event.
